“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way”
Georgia O'Keeffe
I never planned on doing hair as a career growing up. As a first generation American from an immigrant father, there was pressure on me to go to college from a young age. I found it absolutely soul crushing to go through the motions of an undergrad program while having no idea where I would see myself in five years. I switched majors and universities three times each and couldn’t see myself happy on any of those paths. Cue hairdressing!
I am a creative person who is passionate about art, but I struggled to express it since traditional art skills are not in my wheelhouse. I found joy in hairdressing by using my hands to create in a medium I excelled in, all while simultaneously impacting the lives of others. I am also impacting myself by listening to my inner child. I was never allowed to color my hair as a kid, so I owe it to my inner child to create the fantasy hair she always wanted for herself!
“You will love my thorough consultations and cruelty free mission (almost) as much as you’ll love my “Sex in the Sinkie” shampoos”
Outside of the salon, you can catch me browsing the local record shop’s latest shipment of vinyl, buying from local independent artists, or playing with my pet parrot and best friend, Mona! I love a good horror flick, and will always talk about your latest tv show obsession. Just don’t ask me what’s for lunch, because I can ALWAYS be persuaded out of the meal I packed and into ordering takeout!
